Couscous

Couscous

A Poem by Isola

my desire is a madness
to linger
in your delicate blend
of naivety
and artfulness
a fragrant recipe
of frailty and prowess

that I may savor
if the gods conspire
to favor my thirst
and steadfast ardor

smoldering
behind lids of coolness
and fire
your saffron intellect
and soul of fennel
an indelible print
whetting my palate
rose petal emotion
and subtle shallot

a delectable symphony
to drench and nourish
the prostrate desert
of my languishing hunger

Dear Unknown, your review of my poem, uplifts me! I am appreciative that you have stopped by. Thank .. read more

This poem is a beautifully written expression of desire. The use of food metaphors to describe the object of desire is particularly effective, as it creates a sense of hunger and longing that is palpable throughout the poem. Overall, this is an excellent piece of writing that captures the intensity and complexity of human desire in a compelling way.
