The ripple of gentle wings
softly enfolding the little bird
comforted as darkness enclosed

Her feathers as jewels
dipped in shimmering light
reflecting the storm
this passing night

Just a flutter accompanying
her fading song
rolling through twilight
across the world

vibrating the heartstrings
of a sensitive child
