Running Steed

Running Steed

A Poem by Isola

When it comes to poetry
let the horse run free

unshod
and galloping

a thunderbolt ennobling
the wind-whipped plain

visible yet hidden
in the dusty storm

composing verse
by its flowing mane

into downy silk
spinning each word

skimming the sky
with nimble hooves

choreographed in the mistral
each spirited move

This is stunning. Beautiful. I had a horse for years but I never knew I had one. When I discovered I had it, I didn't think it was that important. So I left it tettered and tied down in a stable. Years later, I realized its worth and came back to set it free. Then I discovered that by setting it free, I was setting myself free. Of course, the horse I'm talking about is poetry.
What a great piece. My regards.

Liked very much the imagery here. What do you do, though, when your horse won't come out of the stable?

Hi John B! The horse’s mane cannot remain unruffled for too long!
