A Coltrane groove

A Coltrane groove

A Poem by Island Hippy
"

"
I caught a little Coltrane groove
and hooked my arm in his
we swayed with surprising grace
round a makeshift ballroom
dirty yellow neon to light the way
flanked by dusty velvet
he dipped me
like the long drawl of his sax
sweat beading bodies in sync
runs of Philadelphia n’ Jersey swag
dapper in black n white
Coltrane danced with me
and smiled through the drum solo
as we rode the Blue Train.

The incomparable John Coltrane, his music filled our home growing up. I still love his music today.

' Coltrane danced with me ~ and smiled through the drum solo ~ as we rode the Blue Train.' mmm

Your words create such a beautiful mood, a mix of strangely sensual and oh so down to earth... a chord for every moment, dear Izzy mine! We could share such beautiful party hours on a cloud of silky white dance floor! You have me smiling. xx

Oh yes Izzy, I can understand why you took to the dance floor. Loved the music track. Great ambience in your words, you really created the scene. I was watching you. All good wishes

Thank you for taking me on a spin around your rustic realistic dance floor. I love the way your writing shows the quirky aspects of your admiration. I am also very inspired to write, becuz of favorite music (I'm listening to Grateful Dead right now, conjuring up an urge). I love the way you personify Coltrane & dance with him -- makes your message very immediate & palpable (((HUGS))) fondly, Margie

Who dream-dances a sweat-beaded dance with the iconic John Coltraine?? And even dips with him??? You do my ohana!! This poem is ecstasy in sensual sound and swag imagery. And those “ black and white” clothes and sexy sax riffs....rhythmic, musical, sensual....all aboard the wailing Blue Train!
