This is one of the most precious remembrances I've ever read, for someone who's passed. I love your conversational tone, without sadness, but an interesting brightness of spirit, like your mom has truly infused you, so she's not "gone" from you. Very convincing dance with her spirit (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
i was not there when my mom died....she had hospice and was not really aware.....but really feel she knew i was with her...in my thoughts...right there, even though i was 7 plus miles away....
Aloha my ohana, hope you are feeling well & glad to see your new work! This poem so resonates in me- beautiful, loving words for your mother- so sorry for your loss dear friend. I know that pain that is like no other..."when I felt you go". "I'll bring you flowers tomorrow, melia & we'll talk"- so moving and real. I know she and the angels are there watching over you and Little Izzy- " a loving hand on the swell of my belly"-always...

I was 15 when my mom became my angel, it's been twenty years :) just lately I've been missing her more. Of all things I wish she could be here to meet her grandson when it's time but I take comfort in believing she is a guiding presence for us. Mahalo my ohana thank you for your always warm and encouraging words! Hugs and aloha xxx
A lovely if sad tribute to your mother Izzy. I am sorry for your loss. You have captured that sadness and yet merged it with love and hope in this piece. One little comment would be not to repeat 'lights' twicw in stanza three?
