Angels

Angels

A Poem by Island Hippy
"

For my mom

"

I lay in a room
on a far away street
when I felt you go

some angels must leave
in the still night
while you're fast asleep

they go to the lights
foreign bright
and shimmering

my dreaming eyes
bring you close to me
& water at the seams

you ascended
to the place where
angels sleep

i'll bring you flowers
tomorrow, melia
& we'll talk

when I close my eyes
you're right there
a loving hand

on the swell of my belly
while my fingers trace
your name engraved in gray.

This is one of the most precious remembrances I've ever read, for someone who's passed. I love your conversational tone, without sadness, but an interesting brightness of spirit, like your mom has truly infused you, so she's not "gone" from you. Very convincing dance with her spirit (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Aloha my ohana, hope you are feeling well & glad to see your new work! This poem so resonates in me- beautiful, loving words for your mother- so sorry for your loss dear friend. I know that pain that is like no other..."when I felt you go". "I'll bring you flowers tomorrow, melia & we'll talk"- so moving and real. I know she and the angels are there watching over you and Little Izzy- " a loving hand on the swell of my belly"-always...

A lovely if sad tribute to your mother Izzy. I am sorry for your loss. You have captured that sadness and yet merged it with love and hope in this piece. One little comment would be not to repeat 'lights' twicw in stanza three?
