Papuan sky

Papuan sky

A Poem by Island Hippy

this distant sky is unlike
any sky I have ever gazed

hatched in solitude --
i devour the light hours

this churning, living
breathing energy

there is vitality in a
beautiful storm, moody-

colorful and strange,
mist rolls off each wave

permitting sun to engage
casting streams of light;

yellow & burnt orange
refracting & bending. distant

drums, operatic shrills of
singing chanting voices

my papuan brothers
& sisters dance barefoot

in tropical rain, humid
and thick with mourning

i am a full & heavy heart
departing from terminal B.

Was my pleasure. I love your work.
Your writing takes me on a journey every time. Exotic places that you can close your eyes and nod off to. There is a freedom to your work that is admirable.

Anytime friend. Glad I can make you smile:)
My Ohana, have you left already? Wow. Changes too fast to keep up with! I pray for you and wish you safe flight with your little passenger. This poem is a beautiful tribute to the home you are leaving-vivid, colorful exotic imagery-so primal and alive. "My papuan brothers & sisters dance barefoot."-In tropical rain, humid and thick with mourning."-such touching and poignant feelings. Every closure is sad ,like a small death, or like a hard passage into new light (birth!)... I wish you beautiful new light on your journey my sister.xo

Leaving on a jet plane told in vivid colourful stanzas Izzy. The feeling of being drawn and reluctantly departing is well portrayed.
You are on a roll today!
