The fence

The fence

A Poem by Island Hippy

the fence around my heart is high
still I climb, splinters impale my
skin I need their piercing touch
to remind me to begin & begin
frankly, I'm tired of being
the only one willing
to climb.

I'm really digging the flow and vibe of this. Are we prisoners or are we free controlling the guest list. Content full of thought and depth. Nice work Izzy!

You're welcome:)
indeed, all the climbing will lead nowhere if it comes only from one side....i loved the bittersweet tone of this...yet sometimes, fences are there for a reason...lovely done :)

Aloha Ana, I appreciate your warm review. Mahalo nui. Izzy.
Always interesting when we build barriers.
To keep us in, to keep someone out.
But in this, you need the barrier and the pain. But the other person doesn't seem willing. Stalemate. Like this Izzy.

Mahalo Paul, great comment!
what an interesting perspective ... instead of something or someone that brings the fence down ..climb out of it ourselves ..leave it up .. its part of our self as well as anything else isn't it ...your depiction of pain through slivers is graphic ..i feel it .. no pain, no gain ;} really like this unique take on the heart fence .. nice one!

Mahalo E, I appreciate your thoughtful comment
This metaphor is crystal clear and the punch in this short piece is full of pathos.

Mahalo John, I appreciate your visit
Wow, an interesting way to put this all-to-common trend. I'm a believer that the right person will climb with you at the right time.

Mahalo James, yes I believe so too. I appreciate your visit.
that fence will never come down if the one on the other side doesn't want it to....both have to climb together.

Mahalo Jacob, I appreciate your visit.
Brief words, laid finely, big meaning. There's a longgg story behind this thought, or, there could be!
