the fence around my heart is high
still I climb, splinters impale my
skin I need their piercing touch
to remind me to begin & begin
frankly, I'm tired of being
the only one willing
to climb.
I do understand this poem. It is sad we play the lover, play the fool and we play the escaper. I liked the ending. Take two to tangle and one to forget. Thank you Izzy for sharing your amazing poetry.

"I'm tired of being the only one willing to climb" Woah!
That is quite the way it is, most of love, understanding, efforts, help all happen from one side.
Whoa, I f****n' love this.
For such a short poem, I can relate to this so deeply!
I love the words you choose, and the mephor of a fence and climbing to get into someone's heart.
This is a beautiful and powerful piece here.

No problem, it popped up on my newsfeed and the preview lines just grabbed my attention right away!
Jumbo .You seem a little bit sad. But high fences make good neighbours, so they say. Perhaps your heart is telling you to stop trying so hard? But actually I did like your succinct, well perceived poem. It says a lot and ,I am sure, speaks to many. Asanti sana.

Aloha, I appreciate your thoughtful comment and time.
A lot of truth in your words. Sometimes it feels as if no one is making much effort to be real. It is easy to sit behind the fence and twitter and tweet instead of face to face, heart to heart honest talk.
Blessings,

Aloha Richie, insightful comment. I appreciate your time. Mahalo.
Great! Love the flow of the stream of consciousness style and the vivid imagery. Love is a dangerous and scarring game at times. One person pulling the weight is bound to fall. Dark but so true!
Sometimes that fence confuses us all, leaving us to wonder if it is to keep us in or others out. It can get tiring when only one is willing to put in the effort. Maybe we should listen to the splinters more :)

Mahalo Nemo, I appreciate your thoughtful comment.

Sometimes, it feels like we're coming down instead of climbing up...
I liked the style in which you wrote this. Few words with deeper meaning. Nicely penned, Izzy :)
