![]() Her dreaming placeA Poem by Island Hippythe heavens wept gently upon the palm leaves of the thatched fale a gentle pitter patter of tears shattering eves tranquility breathing life into volcanic earth the night sung a harmony of its own a shrill of birds & crawling things coconut palms, flirt and dance like latin lovers to a samba beat a dulcet breaking of waves rhythmic, & low caressing the sleeping shore the crisp island breeze had become a hothouse; tangible, humid and thick it clung to the fale; a fine sheen seeping from the hardwood beams like the beads of sweat kissing her brow these baptismal tears hydrating tropical flora, reviving wondrous things the airs perfume; salty and fresh notes of vanilla drifting lazily on a Torres breeze, it filled her lungs she lay dreaming of her island home across oceans and continents across languages foreign and rich there in her dreaming place she saw ohana, beautiful sun kissed skin songs of home, ukulele tunes serenading the pacific tide, rolling melodies, syllables of her mother tongue sung in island style a smiling copper princess entices lovers island hips lead delicate arms. a dreamy sigh escapes her lips as lū'au teases her senses; the taste of fresh ahi, tropical fruit & sweet potato now a drift on a slumbering tide she surrenders content and full as a steady hum of tiny feet celebrates life in a temple of two heart beats in one. © 2017 Island HippyAuthor's Note
