A Mermaid's Presence.

A boy who befriended a mermaid longs for her return. Alone, filled with sadness he stares into the moonlit ocean. It is when she finally comes that his heart tingles once more.

There he stands with his feet buried in the sand,

He stares deep into the ocean with a longing stare.

Counting the stars above, with a gift in his hand.

‘’Please come back again’’, he said with a glare

 

It was not long ago that he made a friend,

A special one indeed of another kind.

They promised to stay close until the end,

But she was out of sight leaving him feeling forgotten and far left behind.

 

The jewel in his hand which a mermaid had given him brought him great happiness and zeal,

Every morning was beautiful, the skies were clear and clouds passed by floating.

But it was too long, she hadn’t returned or had she broken the seal?

He sighs deeply, maybe it was too good to be true, all this sugar coating.

 

‘’Why must you make me my heart beat and disappear into the ocean?’’,

  We had good times and great laughter.

‘’Why must I feel confused with a mixed emotion?’’

‘’Is it my silliness that you’re playing with or my conscience that you are after?’’

 

He looks up again and the moonlight shines brighter,

The ocean calms down.

He sees a bright light coming closer and getting lighter,

It was her, appearing from the waves before him, slowly he kneels to the ground.

 

Fascinated by her beauty and presence,

He clears his eyes to check if he was dreaming.

His thoughts run wild and time is of the essence,

She lays on the shore with a smile, so sweet and innocent, beaming.

 

He walks towards her with the jewel she had given him slowly getting near,

She gives out her hand gesturing, ‘’have no fear’’.

He nods his head and sits beside her to enjoy a moment to share,

They smile, giggle and talk with moments later only to stare.

Oh thank you! Um, I just write whatever comes to mind when I'm in the mood to write and I'm fascinated by the supernatural world as well so whatever I imagine leads me on to writing about it.
