The Bone Stuck In My Throat

The Bone Stuck In My Throat

A Poem by Godwin Isiwu
"

The patient, struggling with a bone stuck in his throat, hesitates to swallow something as solid as eba, but the doctor's unconventional advice proves effective.

"

A patient said,
"When I swallow
Something
tender as saliva
I feel like the bone
stuck in my throat
will rip my throat
apart
Now you tell
me to swallow
something
hard as eba
So you will watch
my throat actually
rip apart!"

The doctor said,
"When you try
something the easy way
and it didn't work,
try it the hard way,
It will work."

The patient then
swallowed the eba
with a giant gulp
and the pressure
pushed the bone
down his esophagus.

Author's Note

Godwin Isiwu
Author's mock paraphrase: The poem's message is simple: do the exact opposite of things you did that failed you; do not be afraid going extreme would hurt because the least you did had hurt, reason being if the little had hurt then the large wouldn't. The message of the poem is clear, just as this instance of a jellyfish and kernel nut: as little as a jelly fish, it is harmful, and as large as a blue whale, it is harmless: If you pound upon a kernel nut with an object as soft as an egg in other to crack it and it refuses to crack, hit the nut with an object as hard as a rock and it will crack. If you pound upon an egg with something soft and thin as a hair and it does not crack, pound upon it with something hard and thick as a cane and it will crack. You try to do something this way and it happens the other way, try it the other way and it will happen this way.
