The Memories of his LifeA Poem by Isaiah Jacob BarberDedicated to and in memory of My Grandfather Bob Barber
There was a man On a journey Didn’t know Where it would lead
He did his damage To people around him But in his heart Was hope for forgiveness
That is all one really needs People may not be so forgiving But what matters is what’s in the heart And despite any mistakes, he did love
Met a beautiful woman They became husband and wife He hurt her on several occasions But she stayed with him because of love
That’s what love is It doesn’t guarantee We won’t hut the ones we love But if we love, we love regardless
She did love him and loves him still She misses him now that he passed away I think she loves him even more Because she realizes how much she loved him before
If there was anything I would hope for I hope he found peace, believed in their love And that any hurt he may have done It doesn’t matter, it never did
As his loved ones gather Dwell on their loss If I was there, I would tell them Reflect not on his death
But the memories of his life
