Serenity

Serenity

A Poem by Isaiah Jacob Barber

I could write of many things

Some good and some bad

But what I get in the end

Is the serenity I long for

My journey took me far

Far from my passion

Far from my dreams

My pain never changed

Most days were dark

Most nights were long

The days turned to dust

The nights became my life

I chose a calming road

I wanted peace at mind

The part of me that never died

Was the hope for serenity

Someday I shall have what I seek

One day my passion will come again

Someday I will dream once again

On this day poetry became my life

Beautiful, there's not a single other word to describe this poem! It flows like a river, and has a very positive message behind it. It's poems such as this that are examples as to why I love poetry! :)

That is a very strong piece. There is a definite feeling - for me anyway - of a transition through the verses from frustration and maybe despair to acceptance and optimism (or at least hope which can be the other side of the same coin)

I found it quite moving and will probably want to read it again when I have some time to ponder it a bit more.

Words, poetry, and a strong trust in something, Someone, givse a seeker the peace and love that's needed to feel whole. Your words are more than sincere.. plus, hope lurks in the space between each.

Beautiful...I love it! The story of a journey that seems to be ongoing still, eventually finding peace with poetry but the journey is far from over.

About
Writing came about for me, in my life, when I was 16 years of age. Before that however, more to my story is needed. My mother left my father when I was 3. Most children develop an emotional attachm.. more..
