melt

melt

A Poem by Isabelle

his breath thawed to a whisper
a slow sweep of stars began to wane across the ink black sky
his eyes were filmy
a bead of water slid down his numb skin
she had made his life colorful
now all he saw was grey and muted pastels
the beat of his heart was not a delicate rythm
but nothing more than a muscle contracting
her words fell off her tongue like a fresh snowfall
her smile was as pure and fresh as white lillies
he walked slowly home and wondered why, why
he breathed needles as he walked the empty streets
i love you he repeated
i love you
