He waited for me, pen and paper in his hands.
` "You seriously want me to tell you what is in the Cavern."
"The other woman did not to tell me one thing but I know that you are not like them Elena" and I lock my mouth with an imaginary key, just like Maggie did when Lucian threatens her about keeping my name a secret. "You too."
We all laugh.
"Maybe there is a reason why the other five woman didn't tell you what was behind those big doors master Longwei" Becky sings in her know it all tone.
"Humph, vow of silence" he asks and I just look at him remembering the dragons words not to tell anyone about a thing, not even that I made a promise on the life of my first born. "D****t."
We giggled again and he joins us with laughter. "Fine, be that way. Or how does your girls put it. Whatever" he replies with one hand in front of him.
"No master that one is talk to the hand" Becky corrects him.
"Whatever" he sounds miserable and left.
Constance just smile and shake her head. She walks towards us and start to examine me again.
"Girls, I think that this is enough excitement for one day. Why don't you let Elena rest for awhile. I promise she will be here when you visit her tonight" she says and saw their faces drop. But did what she asks.
"Bye girl, and get better soon" Becky orders me.
Sammy hugs me tight not saying a word and left with Becky. I look at how her arm goes over Sammy's neck as they exit the infirmary. You would say that she was the dragon and Sammy the human. Tears filled my eyes again. They are the best friends anyone could ever asked for and as brave as hell.
"How do you feel Elena?" Constance ask me. "Breathe."
I breathe in as she hold a cold stethoscope against the skin of my back. I had to repeat it like three times before I took it from her.
"I am fine Constance. Except for being an emotional freak, I promise you nothing is wrong with me. I will heal" I assured her holding her hand that was still clinging on to the stethoscope. Her eyes starts to shine too but she gave me a super friendly smile.
"You have no idea how glad I am to hear those words" she sighs with relieve. "You gave me such a big fright."
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to really" I apologize. "I guess I have to get you something really nice to say thank you or I would if I had any money" I sulk.
"No need. Just waking up is enough" she replies and put a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Well from what I hear you are one heck of a doctor."
"Oh please" she brush my compliment away.
"No seriously. I am not the only one that think that Constance. You know why Blake came back to the school and didn't take me to the nearest hospital" and she looks at me confused. "It's because deep down in that macho body of his, he knows it too."
She swallows hard while putting back the stethoscope around her neck.
"Thank you Elena. That is the nicest compliment I ever received from anyone" she replies and I gave her a hug.
"Thank you again" I whisper.
Recovery was hard but I got there. I was another four days in the infirmary and all I could think of was my foretelling. It feels good knowing that I have fulfilled it. It was the choice I have to make. One dangerous enough that made the book in the first place. The truth we had to learn was that any sword or weapon could be the king of lions, you just need blood from the true royals which doesn't exist anymore and that King Albert's theory about the Chromatic dragons is real. I couldn't wait to see the ink turned red.
Live at Dragonia, went back to normal. Everybody knew that I was the sixth person that made it out of the cavern. The status was cool for a while but the moment the Seer wanted to see me again, I hated everything about it.
Classes went back to normal, but wasn't for me. Most of them still sounded like Greek. My tutoring lessons also carried on and Latin became my worst night mare again.
The girls didn't kid when they said that Blake went back to his old arrogant self. He wasn't mean towards me or anything but we didn't talk about the mission at all. It was in the past and like me I think Blake wants to keep it in the past too. But I felt that I need to do one more thing before I buried it completely.
"Thank you" I said during one of our lessons. He ignores it and carries on explaining grammar and the right way to pronounce the words. "Thank you" I said again. He just looked at me with no humor on his face, staring at me for a while and carried on.
I sigh. I gave it another ten minutes and said thank you again.
"Stop it Elena. There is nothing to thank me for okay. I would have done it for anybody in that group." He sounded mean.
"What happened to 'you got all my respect when you get out of there'" I mock him.
He huff. "To be honest, I didn't think you will get out of there. So, I lied. Sue me."
"I thought dragons live by their oaths" I snap back.
"Those rules don't apply to me" he replies and I got so angry that I kick his shin, got up and left.
"Elena!" He was down rubbing and complaining. I don't care if that hurts, he is an a*****e and it was our last tutoring lesson anyway, my choice.
Cheng struggled with history. He begged me to tell him what was inside the cavern just like Master Longwei did that day in the infirmary. At a stage he even tried to guess, which was really tempting but I didn't break my promise.
Lucian's class was another story.
He wasn't the slave driven demon anymore and dubbed his session as MAKING OUT TIME.
All I know is that I will never be able to leave him so I hope that he meant every single word when he said he loved me.
All the tutoring stopped when Master Longwei announced one morning that we are all going to pass. The eight of us that make it back alive was too emotional to study for the exams. It was Tabitha's idea and couldn't believe that Master Longwei and the others fell for it.
Not that I'm complaining.
Year end was around the corner and I was going to spend half the summer with Becky and the other half with Sammy. Yeah I didn't look forward to that one.
Now that I know their father is the Night Villain, I was actually a little bit scared but found some relive that her mother was a Sparrow-Annex like Constance. I spend the night before with Lucian up in his tower.
"If my father finally comes to his senses, will you come and visit me in Tith" he asks.
"Off course I will" I turned around to look at him. "I don't know how I am going to spend this whole vacation without you" I sulk.
"You will see me every day I promise" he replies and I feel his lips warm on the tip of my nose. I lift up my chin and we found each other's lips in no time. It was a long, feverish kiss which left us both out of breath.
We stayed there until the sun came up. The last day went fast and I didn't even care how tired I felt.
Saying goodbye to Lucian in the reception area was hard, I couldn't walk with him to the main gate because his dad was waiting for him with Emanuel and the Royal carriage.
He thrust a wrapped up package with a beautiful bow in my hands. It was definitely a girl that helped him with this.
"What is this" I yell as he reach the main door.
"Becky will explain, and you better use it. Every day" he shouts back. "I love you Elena Watkins" he said before slipping through the main door. The other students that was in the reception area just chant. He didn't even waited for an I love you back.
I went back to my dorms and pack my bag as we waited for Becky's mom. I open the paper that covered Lucian's gift and couldn't believe my eyes as I look down at the Cam-phone that was in my hand.
"You got a new cammy" Sammy shrieks. "This is so awesome."
"May I" Becky holds out her hand and I gave it to her with a new feeling of excitement deep inside my core. "It is the new Raindrop 5. It must have cost a fortune."
"Please Lucian doesn't know what that word means" Sammy rolls her eyes and take it from Becky, slides it open and yank hers from her backside pocket. She said her name a couple of times before lining up the two phones next to each other and then when she had a satisfied expression on her face, she put hers away.
"Sammy Leaf" she speaks into my speaker and her phone starts ringing. It had a techno beat to it and she jumps up and down on the same spot, very pleased with herself. "Whenever you want to call me, just say my name. I am the second in your contact box."
I could just guess who was the first.
"I promise I will phone you at least once a day Sammy Leaf."
"You guys" she cries animatedly "I am going to miss you."
"We are going to miss you too Sammy" Becky chants. "I promise we will come and visit. George is for three weeks in Acapulco and don't know what I am going to do with myself."
"George is going to the other side?"
"Yeah, he is so excited about it. It was the big surprise his was dying to know. I wish I could go with him."
"Stupid wall" I sulk feeling her pain. There was so many places I wanted to visit too. We helped Sammy with her luggage and load it on one of the carriages that Tabitha and Blake already occupied.
"This three weeks is really going to suck" she whispers as she saw Tabitha and we just giggle. We each gave her a big hug before she climbs into the carriage and left.
We left in a carriage at three. Her mom was waiting for us near the forest, like all the other normal kids moms and dads did. When we climb out a lady waiting at the silver Audi got really excited. Becky ran towards her. I could tell it was her mom, she's really beautiful. Had big dark eyes and brown hair just like Becky. The only problem is that she seems very young to be a mother but she could have had Becky at a young age. They share the same eye for fashion and is wearing a nice top with jeans and knee high boots.
The two were like best friends and they just hold each other the way people do when they haven't seen one other for a long time. She kissed her face fiercely and Becky complains with laughter while wiping her face with her hand.
"I have missed you so much" her mother says in a sweet voice.
"Missed you more" she sings back.
"You got to tell me everything about this mission Becky" her eyes were full of excitement and I couldn't stop watching them as they speak to one another. The one sounded more exited then the other.
"Oh crap, Elena" Becky suddenly realizing that I was there too. "Mom, this is Elena. Elena the perfect mom" she introduces her mom that just rolls her eyes.
"She is such a drama queen, but she is right about the perfect mom" she jokes and I reach out my hand for hers to shake it. "Oh please, come here" she grabs me.
"Get in the car" her mom orders and Becky just shake her head while we all get in the Audi.
"Can we please make a quick stop at the museum." She asks her mom excited and was glad that I can look at my foretelling sooner than I thought.
"Of course, they have closed down a section for renovations. I can just imagine what it could be" Becky's mom replies super proud. Becky looks at me while shaking her head softly. The trip to the museum was fun. I couldn't stop giggling as they snap playfully at one another. Becky's mom is really cool and I can understand why she is so crazy about her.
She drops us off right in front of the museums entrance and left to find parking. My heart started to beat a little bit faster as I enter the huge doors. I didn't want to waste time so I went immediately to what it is I am searching for. The route to get there was blocked because of a section that was closed off was glad when there was a detour to the Book of Shadows.
When Becky saw the closed sign she got excited, just like her mom.
"You really think it's about the mission" I wanted to know.
"Yip, my mom heard from her best friend, who heard it from one of her colleagues that has a cousin working in the museum that they are busy with a new exhibit" she shrieks. "Isn't it cool, but you can't tell anyone because it is not confirmed yet. There is still members of the royal council that is fighting hard against it."
"Why?"
"Oh Elena, think. What kind of image will it create for them. I mean nine teenagers found the one thing they couldn't. To be honest I would have fight against it too if I was part of the Royal Council, but I am not yet so I say Yay" and I giggle.
"That would be really cool. Will we get wax figurines too."
"I don't think so because it take weeks just to get the faces right" she replies.
"She means the eyes, they really suck at that" Becky's mom came out of nowhere. We took the detour and reach the Book of Shadows in no time.
I tried not to look eager and was so glad that Becky wanted to see the foretelling of George. I was glad when she has found it and decided to read on further for anything new.
My heart started to beat as they turn the pages one by one, knowing that at any moment I will see mine.
I froze as I finally saw that famous words.
"A day will come and a day will go, a choice you have to make or the truth will never be known."
Becky and her mom read it out loud and I giggle at how mysterious they sound. Trying to hide the fact that it belongs to me and that the ink was still black.
