Chapter 10

Chapter 10

A Chapter by Issy
"

Elena meets the realms seer for the first time. The seer is a moon-bolt dragon that can see the future but her foretellings comes in forms of riddles.

"

When I woke up Becky and Sammy was in front of the T.V. It was already dark outside and I was starving. As we walk inside the cafeteria burgers were stacked on a pile. Becky couldn't wait to see what today's riddle was, since she has someone now that can solve them.
The cafeteria was still rather empty and by the eagerness in Becky's tone tells me that nobody has found the right answer yet.  She recites it just like last night.
"Feed me and I live, give me drink and I die. What am I?" she said in a mysterious tone looking straight at me. I frown.
"Come again" I ask as both of them stare at me with wide eyes.
"What is it" Becky wants to know.
"I don't know, I guess I was lucky last night" I reply back.
"Elena" she complain " you can do this."
" I just woke up and not ready to untangled riddles."
"Fine, I will eat the chef's crappy food tomorrow or pasta" she mopes.
Sammy smiles while rolling her eyes.
"Don't be so hard on Elena, Becky. Just give her some time, she might get it later. Besides I like the chef's meals, there is always something for vegetarians."
"Coming from the mouth that had that disgusting plate of food this afternoon."
"Oh stop complaining. I will puke if I have to eat junk food every day" Sammy snaps back and took out her beef patty as if it was something disgusting.
My eyes caught Blake sitting alone at one of the tables. I wonder where Tabitha is. He look so in thought. The card jumps into my head and wonder what it feels like to be that famous. He kills the fire with his forefinger and thumb and got up. I thought about the riddle.         "It's fire."
"Fire" she smiles as if she was waiting for the answer the whole time. I nod my head and she jumps up.
"You are really good at this stuff Elena" Sammy compliments and waved it off like it's no big deal."No, you really are."
Becky dances like yesterday as the chef rings the bell. She orders the same food for tomorrow. "Elena please just don't tell her the answer every time. I can't live of junk food" Sammy whispers.
"Okay" I whisper back and Becky reach our table again.
"You are the bomb girl" she holds her hand out for a high five and it was the first time I high fived someone.
After dinner I crawled into bed. Today was really amazing and drained me.
Before I drift away Blake jumps into my mind, he is a lot on my mind today. The way he was thinking in thought sitting alone at that table made me feel sorry for him. It feels different feeling sorry for someone else besides yourself.
He somehow appeared in my dreams too. He's really hot, the opposite kind of Lucian though. His bad boy appearance and thick dark hair makes it no wonder that he has to disguise himself whenever he goes to town. I dream that I took Tabitha's place. He was kissing me vigorously as if he really wanted me. I didn't want to wake. It turned into something that made no sense though.
Blake was gone and I was standing on a hill. I had no idea what I am doing here and is looking down on this massive forest, the scary type. It took me a while to realize that I wasn't alone. There was a dark hair woman waiting for me on the other side and felt like forever to reach her. At first I thought it was Julia. She was the only woman I know with long dark hair but as I came closer, I knew that it was someone I've never seen before.
She was really beautiful with a fair skin and stared at me. Her face held no expression, she didn't even smile or spoke one word. She just stood there.
She suddenly points towards the forest, ordering me with her body language to go in.  I stare at it before turning my gaze back to her. Why on earth would she wants me to go in there? Then the weirdest thing happened. It was as if the forest came to me, really fast.  I miscalculate the size and felt like a tiny little creature. The trees was fifty feet high and could only see ten paces before me. The rest was a thick black mass of all the flora. I couldn't breathe and the stupid woman was still there, staring and pointing. My heart felt as if it was inside my throat.
I woke up gasping. Luckily Becky and Sammy were deep sleepers. I wanted to cry but got up instead to drink a glass of water. Why the hell did I just dream that?
I struggle to fall asleep. A part of me was scared of feeling the same fear I did. I drift away as the first ray of sun was starting to light the room with one thing on my mind. Who the hell is that woman?

On Sunday I lost myself in the library. I search the internet for explanation on dreams. Most of it boils down to what is stuck deep in your conscience. It still didn't make sense. There was another link that took me to a spiritual site but I don't believe in that and hit the close button.
On Monday morning, I found a note pushed under my door. I have to go see the Seer at ten.
"The sooner the better" Sammy sings at breakfast.
"Good morning ladies" Lucian greets and by the excitement in his tone a real  morning person.
"Hi Lucian" all of us replied over excited.
"When did you got in" Becky wants to know. She seriously have the hot's for this guy wanting to know his every move. I still envied her so much.
"My dad was stuck yesterday with meetings and proclamations so he asked Emanuel to drop me off last night around ten. So, how was Elm?"
"It was Amazing" Becky sings dreamily. "You must check out the new Samurai Three Thousand" and he gives a very mysterious smile as she carries on. "You already got it!"
"My dad bought it for me last week, it is really a wicket vest. You don't even feel that you are wearing it."
"It is so unfair" she sulks.
"Oh Becky, I am sure you got  something out of this deal" he sounds assure and something tells me that this was not her first request from Master Longwei.
"Yeah, me and Sammy got each a nice top."
"So Elena, got everything you need" he asks me my heart makes a couple of flips. I nod my head while picking at my breakfast. I wasn't really hungry. The dream of the other night was still dwelling on my mind and meeting the Seer didn't make it any better either.
"She is seeing the Seer today" Becky whispers.
"Good luck, I was there this morning. She is not in a good mood but it's a good  day for foretellings."
"What do you mean by that" and he smiles while leaning forward.
"Blake was in there before me and both of us got something to think about" he replies beguiling me completely and smell so nice.
"You heard what she told my brother" Sammy voice rings in my head and brings me back to reality. He shakes his head.
"It was written over his face when he got out."
"She won't, you know, turn into a dragon or something" I ask. They all laugh, well Sammy and Becky did. Lucian gave this sexy chuckle.
"No Elena, the Seer doesn't like her dragon form. They lose their humanity the longer they are in their true form. She is usually in a good mood. I wonder what went wrong this morning."
When the first bell rings we said goodbye and part ways. "Lucian likes you Elena" Sammy sings. My heart stops.
"What, no" I reply trying to hide that I am ecstatic over that idea because of the way Becky feels over him. Besides he is way too hot for me.
"Want to bet" Becky teases surprisingly and I just smile. "Sammy is right Elena, he never sit so many times at our table before."
"Will you two of you knock it off" I blush and they just giggle. I looked at Becky and there was no trace that she looked jealous at that idea. She really doesn't like him like that. First class was with professor Dickson and thank heaven she was a human. She gave us a class similar to math's, just way much harder. The second class was my first Latin lesson, it was the main language of Paegeia. They still speak it up North close to the borderline of Etan and was mandatory. It was  also the language of the dragons and magic.
I started to get nervous as ten o'clock starts to approach. I wasn't looking forward to my first session with the Seer. What if she change today or worse what if she say something I really don't want to hear. Like it was my fault that dad died.
I jump as Sir Deisenberg calls my name. He must be a dragon too or that is a theory. All the Sir's are dragons and professors humans. "You may go for your appointment Elena" he said and I pack my books in one of the back packs Becky grabbed yesterday.
"Good Luck" she whispers. I can't believe how fast the time pass,  my heart was beating like a Jack hammer again.
The Seer's tower was easy to find. It was right next to the boy's dormitory. When I open the door, it was dark and smelled even worse, as if a cat got lost here somewhere and died. I stumbled a couple of times. Climbing about a million steps, feeling for the path in front of me and finally it starts to light up. It leads straight to a wooden door.  I took a deep breath and reach out to knock.
"Come in Elena" she sings before my fist hits the door. How did she knows I am here?
I open the door slowly and saw a gorgeous woman. She was still young maybe late twenties and had this pitch dark long hair with a golden brown skin. Her eyes were like George's, bright blue and I felt as if I could look into them forever.
A long robe is covering her petit figure and it's really hard to imagine that she's three hundred years old. "Good morning Elena" she greets with a smile that disappears faster  than she gave it. Lucian didn't joke about that good mood.
My heart was still pounding. A vibe filled the tower and felt as if I'm going to drown in it.  She makes my skin crawled and wipe my arms vigorously trying to get the goose bumps away.
I plunge myself on the puffed pillow and stare at a crystal ball that was in the middle of the table.  I wanted to giggle but remembered her foul mood and changed my mind.
Staring at the ball made me wonder if it lights up and show the future as it does in the movies. Only when she puts a small tray with two tea cups and a big teapot with steam emerging from it I look away. "I need some Chamomile, hope you won't mind sharing a cup. It is the only thing that calms my nerves."
            "No thank you" I reply.
              "Drink something!" she orders.
"Okay, that will be nice" I change my mind and my tone was pitch high. I clear my throat while she pour me tea and it seems like forever for my cup to fill. She pushed the honey towards me. I never drink honey in my tea before or tea for that matter. I am more of a Starbucks chick but don't think that they have a Starbucks nearby.
She got up and brings a huge round plate filled with bite size chocolate chip cookies.
Even with all her scurrying around, the ambience didn't change.
"Want a cookie" she hold out the plate towards me. I took one, scared that she might feel offended, like the tea. "So Elena, how do you find things here in Paegeia" she asks  and took a sip of her tea. The cookie was still in her one hand.
            "Nothing I expected."
"Mmmm" she looks at the cookie and chuck it in her mouth. "I believe that your father was a dragon" she asks still chewing. Her tone will make you think that she isn't one herself.
"Yes" I reply, deciding to keep my answers short.
"Did you know your mother" she wants to know and nods towards my tea to take a sip. I shake my head before drowning my face inside the cup. "So you were raised only by him" and I nod my head again. "I see" she says in a pretentious tone " Why did she left you. Didn't she love you?"
            I frown.
"I don't know why she left. I was very small and my dad never spoke about that."
"I see" she says again. "I bet you must feel really crappy then for the death of your father."
My heart stopped. It was the thing I feared the most. Her making me feel guilty for not leaving that stupid bathroom. She huffed when she saw I wasn't going to reply."I have no heart for the weak or the self pity. My honest opinion is that I think Master Longwei is wasting his time with you. Your father was a dragon and none of dragon off spring can become Dragonians, but here you are born with the mark. You might not like my opinions but let me assure you when I say that you will never ascend" she makes me feel as if I don't belong here and a small part of me feels the same but still it didn't give her the right to rub it in like that. "You got something to say."
I was scared, and thought about it but one thing Herbert Watkins taught me was to speak up.
"I don't agree with some of the things you are saying. It is mean and cold. And although my mother left and my dad had to raise me alone, I know who I am. He made pretty sure of that."
"Too shay, but not knowing your mother leaves a big gap right here" and she taps the area around her heart, or where it should've been. "It is going to keep you away from the things you truly wanted, because you will always wonder about her" she reply and I sigh. I hate to admit that there is some truth in that. Not knowing her, does take my eye off  the finishing line.
"It doesn't matter, my dad was enough."
"Fine, whatever" she sings like a spoil brat. " You can go, I don't feel anything coming from you. Another thing that shows me you are not important" she mumbles that last part but clear enough for me to hear.
My mouth almost fell on the floor but closed it fast. I felt my eyes starting to sting. I can't cry, not in front of this wretched old hag. I got up ready to leave. "Oh and another thing, you don't need to come again. I can spend our time on things that is really important."
That took me by surprise as I am sure Sammy said that it was mandatory to see her once a month. I shake my head and reach for the door handle. I can't believe that people like her actually exist, but then again she is a dragon.
She speaks again but this time it wasn't her voice, it sounded like ten people speaking in unison. I turn around and found a whole different picture.
"A day will come and a day will go" she says and her eyes were a crystal white color, almost silver. She was still in her human form and her hair was blowing like she was in the path of a strong wind. "A choice you have to make otherwise the truth will never be known." The wind stopped and she shake her head fast, clearing her throat as if something was stuck, like the cookie. My heart was beating wild.
When she opens her eyes they were bright blue again. "I thought I told you to go" she says as if nothing had happened. I open the door and run as fast as I could. What the hell just happens and what does it means.
