As It Burned BrightlyA Poem by Isabella MarieSometimes it takes everything and more to fix a broken love.Don't look me in the eyes For you'll hate what you see Suffocated by cellophane dreams Just tell me once again That we'll have just one more chance And I promise that this time I'll do things right
I will tear this down and build it up again
Dear, let's just pretend That our plastic hearts can't break And maybe we will see another day Let's lose it all, let's take the fall Lie down for a dream so small The city lights will watch us as we sink into the night
Your hand brushes mine A simple touch holds all your pain In my heart I know there's nothing I could say To make you just forget Everything that we've been through But I'll never make you feel this way again
I will tear this down and build it up again
Dear, let's just pretend That our plastic hearts can't break And maybe we will see another day Let's lose it all, let's take the fall Lie down for a dream so small The city lights will watch us as we sink into the night
I know that we are breaking Our hearts and hands are shaking It's because of me that we are here Dearest, dearest, don't lose hope Someday I will fix what I have broke
Dear, let's just pretend That our plastic hearts can't break And maybe we will see another day Let's lose it all, let's take the fall Lie down for a dream so small The city lights will watch us as we sink into the night © 2008 Isabella MarieAuthor's Note
