There He Goes

There He Goes

A Poem by Irving Glass
"

An old one.

"

He picked himself up and said never again

But he’s said that before

He climbed on the roof

He wanted to dance

But instead he just cried

He doesn’t know how he feels

But he knows it’s not that nice

He said don’t come to the house

Because I’m not in

Even if you see me

I promise you

That isn’t me

I’m in another place

I’m thinking of my mother’s lies

So necessary for those with pipe-dream eyes

He said im a hellion with bloodshot eyes

And a daisy chain on my head

Old age not death makes me weep

I want cry on my mother’s chest

But that dreams long gone to sleep

And now there’s ringing in my ears

I don’t know where I am

And I don’t know where I will be

But I know that I’m not here

So if you think

That you see me

I can promise you

That isn’t me
