Rain

Rain

A Poem by whyamihere
"

Something I heard in a mall bathroom

"
"Sorry I hung up on you, I didn't mean to answer the call
I'm at the mall sitting behind a stall wall
Heard you've grown since last fall. What are you 4 foot"
...
"wow, 5'4 foot tall. Used to be so small."

"I know it's been a while, and It might seem insane
but it's starting to rain, my bad legs giving me pain and
I forgot my umbrella"
...
"again?"

"It's fine I'm sorry to bother you
You must have a lot of work to go through"
...
"I love you-"

A beat went by, the guy sighed, wasn't long before he started to cry
I knew his last words hadn't been a lie, but why
they were cut off by a beep with no bye
I didn't want to pry, but I swear I heard him pray that he might die
Like the click at the end of a call cut off his lifeline
and while the skies in his eyes released a flood in the outcry
I stood by, remembering making my own slip not tie
His cries seemed to amplify
