War

War

A Poem by Rebecca Isherwood
"

Written 7-2-2008. I'd like this one to speak for itself.

"

Listen for the echo

The echo of my heart

Hear how it skips a beat

As my world tears apart

Forgive me for my foolishness

I didn't mean to do it

I guess I couldn't help

Putting you through this

I've been so cold

To not fill you in

I'm fighting a battle

That I just can't win

Not sure how to handle

Unclear who to call

Can't remember the exact day

When I happened to fall

Trying now to avoid

Tearing my chest in two

Too frightened to even say,

To tell you I love you

I hate to face it

Don't want to see you leave

Afraid that you'll be killed

And I'll be left to grieve.
