Uneasy Thoughts

Uneasy Thoughts

A Poem by Rebecca Isherwood

Sweet stranger, called me angel

And looked into my eyes

I was not sent to comfort or console

I am but a demon in disguise

Perhaps wishful thinking or

Misconstrued conceptions

Have left you fallen prey

To my deceptions

I have naught but

A void to fill

An ache to satiate

A simple pain to kill

Loneliness is a plague

Its disease has tainted my senses

And the blackness grows

My face is painted

A mime's expression

This clever visage

Drew you in with a

Cleverly constructed mirage

Expectations are high

But the tower will topple

I'll move on the consume

The souls of other people

Leaving you in ruins

Struggling for another fresh start

Betrayed by a fallen angel

A female with a broken heart.
