A Poem by Rebecca Isherwood
"

"

Don’t be sad, I am here

I will try to calm your fear

I care for you, my intelligent one

My damaged heart, your soul has won

I belong to you, just talk to me

I’ll tell you all, then you will see

I want to help, I love you so

It’s complicated, as you well know

I only want the best for you

But I feel there’s nothing I can do

You toy with my heart’s fragile strings

Every move you make internally stings

I reach out to touch your face

My blood runs quick, my insides race

But I draw back knowing it’s right

Consequences suck. I’ve given up the fight
