Letting Go

Letting Go

A Poem by Rebecca Isherwood
"

"

Crying, sobbing, solemn tears

Depressingly enough

I want to fix everything

Smooth out all the rough

Taking you in my arms

Holding you so tight

Wishing it was better

Trying to make it alright

I only care to help you

Build your life back up

Give you back your innocence

Protect you from the corrupt

I hate to admit

You drag me down

I can’t hold on

But it’s hard to let go

I see how you love it

Rocking to and fro

Darkness encompasses you

Why don’t you leave

Why won’t you come with me

Now I can’t breathe

You’re suffocating me

I must break free

Sever all the ropes

And come back to me

No needle or thread

Could possibly repair

This bleeding heart

It’s forever aware

Inside my chest

It pounds and cries

Filling with evil

Tormented with lies

It’s tender flesh

Is torn and split

My mind battles itself

In a constant fit

With my lips

I place my final care

On your forehead

And leave it there
