Mind ControlA Poem by Rebecca IsherwoodWritten 7-16-2007.
Take a look in the mirror
Tell me what do you see There's so many ways to describe What that could possibly be Everybody wears that mask An insiduous perpetual grin To hide honest emotions And disguise the infinite sin What is in our skin Reach out and touch a soul Find out what's behind those eyes It could be mind control Listen to the music What exactly do you hear Do you curl up in your bed To hug your pillow near Can you face reality Can you tell what's real Can you understand your fantasy Can you even feel What is in our skin Reach out and touch a soul Find out what's behind those eyes It could be mind control Dream up colorful places Or just wallow in the dark Knock you out so you see light It's bright but intense and stark Are your dreams worth seeing Actual facts or magical It is really you inside On a ride or simply logical Do you hate your body Would you like to touch yourself Have you memories more like dreams Stored in back upon a shelf What is in our skin Reach out and touch a soul Find out what's behind those eyes It could be mind control Mind control dictating you Like a puppet led by strings Materialistic beauty queens Who are owned by their things Addicted to dressing up A costume to become another Who can tell who's under there Your true identity is smothered When friends don't even recognize You know you have changed Is it really for the good Or priorities need to rearrage What is in our skin Reach out and touch a soul Find out what's behind those eyes It could be mind control © 2008 Rebecca IsherwoodAuthor's Note
