Religion Lost

Religion Lost

A Poem by Rebecca Isherwood
"

high school era.

"

A righteous being
Awaiting disgrace
Sadness stretched across
An angelic face
This should not be
Love twisted things
He no longer delights
In the church bells rings
Such an evil caused
Religion to be lost
Embarrassed and shamed
So great a cost
He truly believes
God should have helped him
Always obedient
Repenting each sin
But he and his love
Were exiled and outcast
Shunned and forgotten
Regardless of the past
Singled out from the crowd
Only to be discriminated
As they grew up
Their religion terminated
They were such good kids
His lover and he
They were raised right
As little boys should be
Their parents taught them
Right from wrong
But they decided
They don’t belong
To this limited world
Where feelings are oppressed
Leaving in turmoil
Love is finally expressed.
