Internal Crash

Internal Crash

A Poem by Rebecca Isherwood
"

High School Era, based on a dream.

"

This is insane
I’m desperately falling
To my soul
I am calling
I can not stop
Accelerating fast
Breaching sound barriers
As I crashed
Breaking into
A million tiny blades
In my mirror image
My spirit quickly fades
The tiny glass specks
Catching the light
All that is left
After my flight
My fragments
Are sharp as knives
Like bloodied metal
Taking away lives
Don’t touch me
Or you’ll bleed
My cold heart
Misery will feed
I look prettier
When I'm dead
Too bad my crash
Was trapped in my head.

Wow, what a line:

I look prettier
When I'm dead

Up until this line, I got a bit lost in cliches ... maybe some less well-used words than soul and spirit or breaking sound barriers and sharp as knives ... what else could the fragment of yourself be sharp like? what other barrier could you break that might tie into the crash being internal? These last lines make me think of Marge Piercey's Barbie Doll - I'll send it to you ... Thanks for requesting the read - Love that line!

Damn... I don't know why, but it reminded me of "Final Destiniation" in some way...

Other than that, it's a really unusual, but really great read, so no worries...
