Music

A Poem by Rebecca Isherwood
"

Music is my life.

"

MUSIC
I can hear it
But I sense it more
Other wouldn’t understand
It’s much more than gore
It relates to my roots
Coming out wrong
I try to explain
It’s not just a song
In through my ears
My whole body feels it
Each verse comes on strong
The lyrics reveal it
Evil and violence
Horrors and fears
Even the beat
Sheds its own tears
The rhythm reaches my body
Making it want to lash out
My head aches from it all
I want to scream and shout
Against all the things
I’ve had to put up with
I can’t possibly express
Even with this precious gift
I can try to convey
Try to make you see
My music is my own
So why the controversy?
If something is loved
It is part of someone
It can not be taken away
Music and soul become one.

It's amazing how much that music can touch us...reach out to each of us, in different ways. The lyrics, the beat, loudness/softness all saying its own thing. I really liked this!
