A-Musing

A-Musing

A Poem by Rebecca Isherwood

An inspirational muse
Appeared in a daydream
Slightly ruffled, amiss
And not altogether clean
She said to me
"Beware the cliche
They'll ruin your songs
Embitter your day

Instead be unique
Think for yourself
It will be more fulfilling
When you earn wealth
Fame is unimportant
Save for in youth
When fame fades away
It leaves only truth

A dark path behind
Deep depressing trail
Trials and tribulations
Will help you unveil
Why dwelling in the past
On what is lost
When you can move on
Unaffected by lust

Envy, anger, all
Variance of emotions
Aiding your task
Promoting your devotions
Work obsessed
Go out and play
Life's no fun if
Inside, you stay

When the petals
Of your heart wilt
Aged by the weight
Of impending guilt
Go to the sun
Bask in its rays
Life can renew
Spawn in new ways"

Refreshed and awake
I saw I fell asleep
But this muses words
I decided to keep
For real or imagined
She was wise
Very passionate and
Helped me realize

Upon reflection
The life is drained
But written in the moment
All reality is gained
To experience the feelings
While it may seem absurd
It the best possible way
To give life to your words.
