Storm Walker

Storm Walker

A Poem by The Iron Horseman
"

A poem about the peace to be found at the heart of a raging storm.

"

I stand upon the seashore,

Amidst the raging storm.

I have been here many times before,

In many different forms.

Sometimes I am the thinker,

Clearing my head.

Sometimes I am the mourner,

Communing with the dead.

Sometimes I am the lightning,

Striking down my foes.

Sometimes I find it frightening,

Conjuring my woes.

In the waves pounding on the beach,

I see vast forces held at bay.

As the wind extends its reach,

I feel troubles ripped away.

As wild forces whirl around me,

They reach into my soul.

I was born beside the sea,

Her rages make me whole.

There's nothing as wild & invigorating as a storm raging on the ocean, especially here on the Big Sur coast, a dramatic rocky drop down to the water. In your poem, it's clear how the narrator craves & enjoys this gnarly scene, in all it's different flavors. This is a lesson to us, to embrace whatever comes our way in life. Strong vivid details & well-crafted rhyme & structure (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I'm relatively new to WC, but your rhyming struck me immediately! It's great that you're able to rhyme throughout the entire poem while preserving the meaning and potency of your words.

Thank you. I'm glad you liked it.
Good rhyming and meter here. The imagery conjures up a storm, both inner and outer. Well done.
