We've All Been There

A vignette of family life.

“Why should I?” the young boy said.

Yes, why should he? I agreed in my head.

“Because I said so?” It was worth a try.

“You've gotta do better than that. That won't fly.”

“Because it's the right thing to do?” Ever hopeful.

“Oh, woohoo! You said a mouthful.”

“Because you want to?” I know he won't.

“That would work if I did, but I don't.”

“Because you love me?” The last resort.

“That'll do it, Mum.” The loving retort.

Author's Note

I think everybody has experienced some variation on this theme at some point in their family life, either as the parent or as the child. It is just intended to make you smile.

Why is it 'odd'? We seem to have a number of shared interests.
You should read some of The Huntress adventures - I think you would really relate to those. Somehow, I could see you in the role. Maybe it's the Texas thing! :)
