She

She

A Poem by The Iron Horseman
"

When you meet your soul-mate...

"

You see her in the flush of dawn,

Back-lit by the morning sun,

Hair forms a nimbus round her head,

You know that she's the one.

You see her in the light of noon,

Those brown eyes, that magnetic smile,

Skin glowing with her inner light,

Graceful moves, her own sense of style.

You see her in the sunset,

Blazing colours, fading to rose,

Her beauty is like that sunset,

A golden, roseate glow.

You see her in the night,

Dark, mysterious, sometimes frightening,

Her soothing velvet blackness,

Enhanced by jagged streaks of lightning.

She walks amongst your dreams,

Acts as a soothing balm,

Her touch upon your nightmares,

Yields peace, tranquility and calm.

When you wake to another morning,

She's there again in the dawn,

You remember all the reasons you love her,

And your souls kiss as the day is born.

Since I have not had a partner in 30 years, I've gotten used to thinking of nature as my partner. That's why I love how you describe this loving discovery/experience in terms that are as if you are loving on nature itself! I think it's interesting to write a love poem using terms that do not fall into gender stereotypes, even tho your poem is clearly about a female, the aspects you adore could be anything. I like that your poem could be interpreted as any gender, as your reviewer Nolo Segundo mentions (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Whether it's a specific woman or 'women', you've caught so beautifully the eternal attraction of the male for the female.

always a pleasure.
Soul-achingly gorgeous, Iron, and even more gut-wrenchingly true... A romantic poet, I see you seem to be... This ranks up with some of the best verses I have seen capture this essence... Bravo', and blazingly penned...

You are welcome my friend.
Ah! So glad she's still there at the end. So many write of loss and abandonment. This is sweet and touching. Dawn, Noon, Sunset, Night. In all ways, at all times, she's the one.
Very nicely done.
