Alright, let's begin with a confession: this story violates my own personal rule about not writing anything self-referencing. Just thought I would get that out of the way before somebody else pointed it out. :)
If you write stories you have probably had the experience of some characters assuming a life of their own in your head. In my case it is Jeb Cassidy, the young gunfighter who starred in my novelette Intervention. I am currently working on a full length novel featuring him and he won't leave me alone! He keeps yammering in my ear day and night about what he wants to happen next, keeping me up at nights and zoning me out during the day.
This poem came to me fully formed at about three in the morning of yet another sleepless night in which he just wouldn't shut up. I decided to publish it as a playful swipe back at him in the interest of preserving what little is left of my sanity!
Forgive me, and I hope it makes you smile!

A interesting tale in the poem. Poetic License helped me with this one. Those video games do steal our time. Thank you for sharing the fun poetry to read.

If you are referring to Poetic License's comment about video games, I am afraid you have been misled. She and I were just kidding around. The real explanation is in the Author's Note above - Jeb Cassidy was a character in my first novelette.
Although....honestly, I really thought you referring to your avatar on a video game...... just saying. But hey, you can go with fictional character.... your secret's safe with me..... ;-)
Smile and guffaw. I have sooooo experienced this over and over and over. I have gone so far as to offer to switch places with characters who seem to have a much firmer grip on reality than I do at the time. Well done. I get you!

Love the western swagger of this and agree with your author notes a hundred percent! Sometimes they just pop up in your head and set up a tent and a campfire and demand to be their own person! lol

very interesting, I'm not sure who the pet gunfighter is, is it referring to the president, could be but very interesting phraseology, full of food for thought!
Aspiring new writer. I enjoy writing stories, poems and song lyrics. In fact most of my poems are song lyrics! All constructive input is welcome. If you think something sucks, tell me so. I won't be o.. more..
