ZigguratA Poem by The Iron HorsemanZiggurats versus pyramids
A ziggurat is not a pyramid. A pyramid is not a ziggurat. The difference is important. I'm glad we're clear on that.
Newscasters don't know the difference, Most folks just don't care, But if you're high up on a pyramid, Don't try walking round the square!
On the other hand, If it's a ziggurat you're at, You can party on the terrace, And still have room to swing a cat.
Don't build a water-slide on a ziggurat, You will probably break your back. You could build one on a pyramid, But you will likely take some flak.
“What's in a few serrations?” I believe I hear you say. Try using a saw with no teeth, You'll start seeing things my way.
A pyramid is not a ziggurat, Despite what the newsies say. A ziggurat is not a pyramid. The difference is as plain as day.
Pedantic or what?
They may share a common base, They may have a similar form, But ignorance isn't bliss, It's just the current norm.
Particularly for news media!
If I were a ziggurat, I'd want my proper name. Human sacrifice took place on me, That's my claim to fame.
Restore me to my former glory, Use me as your bleachers. Learn how to spell my name, And teach it to your teachers.

What? You still don't care?
