I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this poem!!! It's like my two poems "Whooo?" and "Smooth Sailing" got together and had a baby... It would be this poem. OK, so your poem was written way before mine. And you would have to add water. So, maybe my analogy does not fit, but.... There are some similarities... LOL
Anyway, this poem is very masterfully written. I love it. Your authors craft in your repetition superb.
There is an owl who hangs out in a tree outside my bedroom window. He talks to me at night. I will be on the phone or talking to a family member and he responds. I think of anything but death when he is there. It is rather comforting having him there watching over me!! Your poem reminded me of him.

We have a barred owl who comes around to sit in a tree at the front of our house and peer in through the windows sometimes! He's beautiful. We also have a Great Horned Owl who hoots a lot in the woods behind our place, but we seldom see him/
That's a good Western name you selected there for yourself. Do you like Westerns by any chance?

Believe it or not, there are about 5 owls that hang out at my house. One in the ancient pecan tree by my window. He's the one that talks to me. I have seen his shadow in the tree by moonlight only. There was another who calls to him in the tree behind the house. We heard him once at dusk. My teen son went to the back of the house to see if he could see him. He came back and quietly motioned for me to follow him. There high in the tree above us was a great horned owl hooting at us and looking at us. He was probably closer than 8 yards. I was amazed he let us get that close. I just think he was used to us being around the house. We live way out in the country. We watched him for a good 15 - 20 until he flew away showing us his HUGE wingspan!!! I am still amazed by our friends around our house.
I LOVE westerns. My favorite actor is John Wayne! My goal is to collect all of his movies. I've got a great start on my collection!!! My favorite is Red River!!
You were really lucky to see a Great Horned Owl - they are pretty shy.

I love westerns, too. Clint Eastwood is my favorite.
I also write them! You can find a short novelette of mine about a character called Jeb Cassidy on Amazon or Kindle. It is called Intervention. I am currently writing a full length novel about the same character.
My recent favorite western movie is Appaloosa.Viggo Mortensen and Ed Harris are great in it.

I think I would like to read your story of Jeb. I have tossed around writing a story myself. I stay so busy with life, I don't get to do it much. Long story there.... My life is not my own right now.... Part of that LONG drawn out story.
Oh, and about the Great Horned Owl, I was shocked he let us get so close. We took pics of him.... He was amazing.... Er, if he was a he... LOL

Finding the time to write is indeed a problem. That is why I started with a novelette - not much time required. Now the new novel is another story - 60,000 words and still rising! Lol!

Beautiful poem, Lovely pictures of the owl flying feeding as it must, a small view of the circle of life.
I like the tag line 'Life's like that.' I agree, we only glimpse a small portion of our surroundings throughout our lives.
This is a nice piece.
This is a wonderfully meaningful poem that made me think, wonderful job. Keep writing!
