Mosaic of my Present SelvesA Poem by Irla Charoibam
Lately, I've been on a quest to unearth my essence, to unravel the tapestry of my being. It's not a recent endeavor, but a lifelong odyssey. In my early teens, I would enact a solo performance, an introspective dialogue on the late-night stage of my imagination. Yet, with each rendition, my character morphed, shifting like sand dunes in a desert breeze. Among different circles, I am painted with varied strokes, a kaleidoscope of perceptions. I once yearned for a fixed identity, a singular narrative to cling to, but now I'm beginning to embrace the ephemeral, the ever-changing nature of self-discovery. I used to envy those who effortlessly commanded attention, who wove tales with strangers in dimly lit taverns. But I'm awakening to the notion that my essence is malleable, subject to evolution. Who we are is a fleeting symphony, a melody that changes with the tides. It's the beauty of growth, the dance of becoming. Henceforth, I'll embrace the mosaic of my present selves and the myriad possibilities that lie ahead.
