Chapter OneA Chapter by JazzHello I'm Grace Carter, I'm 18, going to be a senior in high school. I enjoy a lot things like writing, dancing, singing, photography, animals. I try to always look at the bright side of things but that doesn't always work out. All my life I've had so many people pushing me towards God, and Church, and Christanity. But the more people pushed me towards it the further I got, I don't respond well to people pushing me towards stuff. If you push me towards something I'm only going to back further and further away the more you push. It's better to just let me make decisions on my own and not push me towards something. But anyway my parents have decided to ship me off the my grandparent's for the summer. They think it will be good for me to spend some time with my grandparents. But they're actually doing is sending me to my grandparents because they're hoping my grandparents can fix whatever it is that they think is wrong with me. It's not that I'm not excited to see my grandparents because I am. I just wish it was under different circumstances. ********************************************************************************************* Grace got off the plane in NC, and just as she suspected her grandparents were waiting for her in the crowded noisy airport. As soon as they saw her they started shouting "Grace, Grace over here" well that's embarrassing she walked towards them hoping nobody was paying any attention to the crazy old people yelling her name. "Hi Gracie" my grandma said as she hugged Grace, she cleared her throat. "Grace grandma call me Grace." she said as they pulled away "Oh right, sorry sweetie" she said as Grace's grandpa pulled her into a hug "Are you excited to spend the summer with us?" grandma asked "Yeah, of course. I'm always happy to see you guys" Grace said ..well its not a total lie I am happy to see them I'm just not happy about the circumstances. "Good, we're so happy to have you. We're going to have so much fun this summer." she said Great.. Grace thought God, only knows what that's supposed to mean. They got Grace's luggage from baggage claim and headed for the parking lot. As they walked towards the exit Grace looked around at all the people. Families reuniting, parents saying goodbye to their kids as they head off into the great unknown. As they walked out to the truck her grandmother insisted on carrying on a conversation. "So do you still sing?" she asked "Yeah, I do" Grace said "They're a boy at our Church that sings every once in awhile. I think you would like him." she said Here we go, pushing me towards going to Church again "Now I'm not trying to force you to go or anything." she said Yeah right, I know you better than that. "He actually lives next door to us, so you wouldn't have to go to Church to meet him. Although it would be nice, and we'd be glad to have you. Everybody would." See? That's exactly what I'm talking about right there. I'm starting to wonder if she'll ever shut up or if she's just planning on talking the entire day. "Awesome" Grace said faking a smile Not only is she pushing me towards going to Church again, but she's also playing Cupid and trying to set me up with some boy I don't even know. They got in the truck and her grandpa started driving back towards their house "When we get home I'll have to introduce you" gran said No thanks I'll pass "I just know your going to like him" Seriously!? LET IT GO!!! Grace was thankful that the next thing she heard was "Oh darn, he's not home" Hallelujah! "I guess we'll have to wait to introduce you" Ugh! "His name is Michael. The boy that lives next door." Great! Grace thought Too bad I don't care.. After Grace got everything settled in her mom's old bedroom she decided to go to the beach. She went back downstairs to find both her grandparents sitting on the couch watching tv. "I'm going to go to the beach" she said "Okay sweetie, just be back in time for dinner" gran said looking at her real quick and than turning her attention back to the tv. Grace walked out the door and and down towards the beach. There's not really much to see around here but than again she hasn't been here in years so what do she know. When she finally got to the beach there were people everywhere. Kids running along the sand and out into the water, people reading, people tanning, and just about everything you can think of to do at the beach. Grace was walking along the beach and the next thing she knew a frisbee flew past her head. "Hey, watch it. You almost took my head off with that thing." Grace said to the boy who was running after the frisbee. "Sorry" he said as he laughed "Oh you think this is funny?" she joked "Kind of." he said as he continued to laugh "I'm Michael" he said as he stopped laughing and held out one hand and holding his frisbee with the other. Please let his name be ironic "You wouldn't happen to know the Moore's would you?" she asked hoping he said no "Oh Josh and Carrie Moore? Yeah I actually lived next door to them. Why?" he replied That's what I was afraid of she mentally groaned "I'm their granddaughter" she said "Oh awesome, nice to meet you..uh.." "Grace" she said "Right. Nice to meet you Grace." Michael said "Well I have to get back to frisbee with my friend over there but I'll catch up with you later. Unless you want to join us" 'Go, play with them. You'll have fun.' she could hear grans voice as clear as day in her head. She hesitated but she agreed "Only if your friend doesn't mind" she said "Oh, he won't. He'll be glad to meet you." Michael said and she walked with him back over to where his friend was "Hey Keith, this is Grace. Grace meet my friend Keith." "Hi, nice to meet you" Keith said "See told you he'd be glad to meet you." Michael said looking at her and than turned to look at Keith "Grace is going to be joining our game of frisbee, as long as you don't mind." "Oh no, the more the merrier" Keith said What is it with all the friendly people around here? Where are all the rude idiots. That's what I'm used to. "So Grace what brings you to NC?" Keith asked as they started throwing the frisbee "I'm spending the summer with my grandparents" she said "Oh really? That's awesome." Michael said "Who exactly are your grandparents?" Keith asked "Josh and Carrie Moore" she said "Oh yeah. Mr. and Mrs. Moore" Keith said "Very nice people" "Yep, and this ones just as peachy" Michael teased pointing at her "Says the guy who just met me" she joked trying to hide her smile "True. But I bet I'm right." Michael said "Maybe and maybe not." she said as she caught the frisbee "Think fast!" she said as she quickly threw the frisbee at Michael who totally missed and had to go running after it. "Nice" Keith said as he high fived her. Okay, maybe this summer won't be so bad after all. © 2014 JazzFeatured Review
