Always and Forever

Always and Forever

A Poem by Iris
"

This poem is a spirit who is lost in love. She cannot rest in peace. Find out why.

"
I stand at the tree, where we carved our names. "Forever", it says. But, I stand here alone.
Questions go through my mind.
Why did you...?
How could you...?
Was it worth...?

I stand at the tree, where the leaves has fallen to the ground, leaving it bare. Our names still visible. "Always", it says. But, I stand here alone.

The full moon shines it's light down on a stone piece at my feet. The stone that has our names carved on it. "Forever and Always," it says. But, I am alone.

What is that dripping sound? Why are my wrists slit open?

Why did you kiss her?
How could you hit me?
Was it worth your life, and mines?

"Always and forever" while it's a romantic notion. With experience I've come to realize it is not realistic to base your happiness on the happiness of another. When you love someone (like the words engraved on a tree) I believe that love never really goes away. It can evolve...but when it evolves it doesn't always leave those two people on the same path that they were on before. When those path's split; sometimes so does the heart...and in this case the wrist. Such a sad tree is this.
