Song of a Martyr

Song of a Martyr

A Poem by Iris

O survivors do not grieve

And stay firm

In what you believe

For we may have left you,

Without goodbyes and

Teary partings, true,

But this is not farewell my friend,

For our journey did not yet end,

We may have passed away

With shattered dreams and broken promises

Pick up the shards, you will fix them someday

Your life lies ahead brilliant and shining

Why make it a prison, harsh and confining?

We may have been brutally slain

We may have been silent,

Maybe crying in pain

But soon when the battle shall undoubtedly cease

You will find, in our silent hearts, eternal peace

For no doubt, at the end of the day

This was our fate

So thank God and pray

And each night when you look up at the moon

Remember we will unite, very, very soon

If you just read the yellow words, it is a beautiful poem in itself.

But this is not farewell my friend,
For our journey did not yet end,
Your life lies ahead brilliant and shining
Why make it a prison, harsh and confining?
But soon when the battle shall undoubtedly cease
You will find, in our silent hearts, eternal peace
And each night when you look up at the moon
Remember we will unite, very, very soon

Thank you.
I find myself adrift in these beautifully painful words. Those taken away, taken for their beliefs and life, and now we await a sacred reunion with them. Everything you create here moves the soul. xo

I've never lost someone close to me. But your poem just gave me the power to get over it if that ever happens. It also reminded me of people who died supporting good social causes. We should get their work done and make the world a better place. Beautifully written, I can feel every verse.

Beautifully written and heart-felted. Very touchy subject, but a farewell never sounded better
