Hidden AwayA Poem by AlmCan you hide it among the stars?Where do you hide it? Is it hidden away in a box? And if so, is it with precious things or with junk and rocks? Do you hide it in code written down, in a way only you can understand? Or plainly, in a diary, written by your shaky hand? Do your lips keep them hidden deep down in your heart words never to be said? Maybe it isn’t hidden at all, can I see it in your light tread? Or the way you hold something, gently, as if porcelain. the way you look the look in your eyes, can I see it there? Do you show us, in your deep sad eyes? Silently, sadly, searing with the untold. Is it the undertone of your saccharine lies? Do you keep it in a trinket or: :in a ring
of gold :in a
smiling photograph :in a
fraying blanket :in a storybook, many times told? Can you hide it among the stars-- in the notes of the ocean’s song the tears of the cloudy sky-- or in the wings of the birds flying by? Where do you hide your sorrow and grief? Those aging memories, ever so brief and long ago. Treasure or trash, I’ll never know. © 2012 AlmAuthor's Note
