Love, Lust, and that funny word "Friendship"

Love, Lust, and that funny word "Friendship"

A Poem by Amy

You love me in the kind of way I know can never last,
Perhaps because I know this path from what I've just been passed.
You tell me that you love me most, that I'm the one who knows
Everything that you've been through, your joys and songs and woes.
What happens when you figure out that I'm the same as all?
That I get mad, and I get sad, and I can build a wall
To keep you out and not just in, and that I might refuse,
The changes that you want to make; they're ones I might abuse.
So pardon me if I can't see a future bright and fresh,
That I don't always want to know if and when we'll mesh.
You're saying forever, but I feel unsteady,
Cuz I know what's next and I miss you already.
