Everything is not What it seems (Part 1)

Everything is not What it seems (Part 1)

A Poem by Irene S

Early that morning..
In the month of September,
Hasten to go to School,
After waking up from a deep Slumber..

I rushed to the Corridor,
To meet Sylvia- My best friend..
She was the only one..In front of whom-
I never had to pretend!

The Topper.. The Gamer,
Good looks..And Glamour..

Sylvia was everything-
Without even any effort to garner!

But a Loner, she was..
Deep inside..
For, she never had a family to love her..
Her tears hard to hide!

So, I was to her-
Everything..
A Sister, A Friend..
Sharing Bracelets and Ear rings!

We would talk for hours,
Without getting tired..
She would always do my Home work..
And the teachers would never get me fired!

One day in School..
Came a new girl from L.A.
Alicia- her name was,
Aly! Much easier to say!

Teacher assigned us a project..
Divided us into groups of Three,
I was happy with the choice..
It was Sylvia, Aly and Me!

Post School, We gathered at my place,
And shared many stories..
So fun, life seemed at this hour,
With no sadness.. No worries!

Sylvia was so happy..
To have found Aly with us;
It felt like we're a perfect Trio..
To talk and discuss!

Victory was all ours,

With an "A" in the project..
We were proud of our Team work,
Thus, we topped in the Subject!

Aly said how grateful she was,
To have found us with her..
I said- We were equally happy,
To have Her, the same manner..

You are my Best Friend-

Said Aly to me..
Hey! Hey! Sylvia replied-
Don't forget to include me..!

We three hugged each other..
And ran into the Ice cream Parlour!
We picked up All of 'em..
Regardless of the flavour!

And the time passed..
We went back to our houses;
A long day it had been..
All fun and noises!

Next Morning, I woke up..
And I couldn't see the Sun,
Cloudy sky and I was late for school..
I had to run..

Mother dropped me There..
And I ran as fast as I could,
Only to witness something,
I hardly understood!

The students gathered in the hall
An assembly was going on..
A condolence ceremony to be precise,
In a moment- all my happiness was gone.

Flabbergasted and Speechless..
I stepped ahead from the line..
"Alicia Jones hanged herself last night"- Said the teacher,
A cold chill, ran down my spine!

Dumbstruck, I was..
After what I heard..
A happy soul she was last night,
I remembered her words..

Sylvia came to me..
And she broke into tears,
We consoled each other..
But couldn't control our fears!

Why would she do it?
I kept asking myself..
All the theories, All the guesses-
Were completely, of no help!

We lost a friend, so close..
Coping up- was a hard try!
Something was certainly missing in the puzzle-
A fact- I couldn't defy.. ||
