SailingA Poem by IonaFaithI was given the word "sailing" as a prompt and this is where I went.
I'm sailing on a sea of the brightest blue you have ever seen.
So clear and so deep. But now the clouds are rolling in. The sky turns dark and so does the water. First green, then black. It doesn't seem so deep any more. It's still not scary though. Some people are afraid of the sea because of the deep or the cold or the fish. I'm not afraid. I think it's the unknown that frightens them really but I know so I'm calm. I could just step off the side. The water is so dark and thick I could walk across it. But I know if I tried I'd surely drown. Instead I stay here and I keep sailing. Sailing until the clouds part to show the stars. Stars at sea reflect off the waves. There are more of them at sea than inland I'm sure of it. I lay awake until the dawn. Waiting and watching as the stars take it in turns to wink out and give themselves over to the dawn. All day at sea is beautiful. Blue, green, black, pink. The sea changes and so does the wind. I'll be sailing somewhere new by tomorrow. © 2013 IonaFaith |
