Private and confidential

A Poem by IonaFaith

They send you letters through the post
Just for you and no one else
Not to share or show around
No holiday memories on the back of cards
Or birthday messages in bright paper envelopes
Just first class stamps, letterheads and watermarks
Thick brown packages tied up with string
Are for the people worth celebrating
Not you
You get pushed to the back of their minds
Memos and files, pages of notes
Whole folders devoted to you
But none of it you can celebrate
Or show it off like a trophy
It's nothing to celebrate
It's private
and confidential
