Be my light

When I walk in the dark on my own
And I am afraid of the unknown,
Every shadow may scare me a bit
When I walk alone I may overthink…
Though I am courageous and kind
Always willing to share love and light,
Sometimes I get tired and drained
Of walking through moments of despair.
I dream and I hope of a light
To meet me and greet me at night…
Staying to be the moon and the sun,
In its presence, to never know the fear again…

Sometimes we have to find our own inner light to light our way. We carry the candles in our heart. Our lives are only wicks in wax. In time, we all burn low and burn out in a sputter of flame and smoke. But we should let our candles burn, to light not only our own path but the way for others that walk behind, looking for hope in the darkness. Even the tiniest ray of light can fill a darkened room and illuminate a great and open space. The darkness flees before the light as the night before the day. Let us light our candles and wait for the dawn. When the sun comes up we won't need our candles anymore. The birds know. That is why they sing every morning.
