Junkie on his back

Junkie on his back

A Poem by Inyourshadow
"

Testing drugs on animals

"
Mickey the monkey the whacked out junkie,
was a real space cadet.
till sweet Mary Jane sent him quite insane,
and left him in a sweat.
with a rolled up note he would snort and tote,
or drop a tab or five.
and though it was said that he looked half dead,
he never felt so alive.
he popped on blue pills to cure all his ills,
and drank to keep him calm.
as his mind unhinged as his veins syringed,
with heroin in his arm.
The man on his back from the uncut crack,
ate mushrooms by the score.
Offering a taste of your lifes a waste,
and you know there's nothing more.
Rubbing Valium upon bleeding gums,
to ease his smokers cough.
Now with alcohol and pure disperol,
he lays back and Soon nods off.
His pain is ended by drugs he befriended,
to ease his empty life.
But would be quicker and far less sicker,
if he had but used a knife.

This is amazing, so so brilliant. The flow in it, is perfect! and not even about the truth, and reality you want to tell us. Love the very clever line between all the drugs facts: " Offering a taste of your lifes a waste, and you know there's nothing more. " The ending however is truly hard, but brilliant... I love endings like these, they aren't american, but European or Asian, like in Japan ;) Excellent! keep on penning!

Superb write. Despite it's message it has a wonderfully childlike, nursery rhyme quality about it. That youth, stolen and debased, is enhanced by the rhyme. Cracking piece of work, with a very pertinent message. Often message led poetry or prose is something I reject. Purely because it rams it down your throat. Here though it is superbly handled. Great work

Committing a suicide is worse than taking meds etc..

This just sent chills down my spine.. I just lost my Mother a year ago and she lived with me and it was crazy ..17 meds a day.. For me the knife is a thought.. quicker and less painful.. I know the drugs here are different yet the situations the same..
Excellent write...xx

Disperol is a kind of pain killer in England not sure if it's prescribed elsewhere. Sweet Mary Jane is an old drug reference for the younger ones whom wondered whom she was lol
