I am in your shadow

for my friend Daytonight

Let me bear for you your pain

lay your troubles on my heart,

for I am in your shadow

as I have been from the start.

For I have never wavered

in my appointed role,

as your unseen protector

and soother of your soul.

So take the lemons given

and make sweet lemonade

and I will be there always

in sunshine and in shade.

Place your sorrows in my hands

your tear drops in my eyes,

for I am in your shadow

and your shadow never lies.
