I'm a Mess

I'm a Mess

A Poem by Inyourshadow
"

Mental Illness doesn't mean crazy

"

I am depressed
my minds a mess
I'm sick
         but I'm not crazy

white walls
stiff sheets
locked doors
and their constant

         watching..watching...watching.

I am depressed
I just need rest
I'm tired
           but I'm not lazy

limbo
let go
drift away
beneath their constant

         watching..watching...watching.

I am depressed

This brought to mind many images, feelings, hurts...You penned an emotion so well, not only touched it, but painted a vivid picture of the way depression can make a person feel. That need to yell out that you are not "lazy or crazy" but just a moment to rest, to regroup to regain. SO well done!

oh my goodness. this is beautiful. absolutely beautiful. i love your formatting, your choice of words, your honesty. i tend to write stories about teenage girls who deal with various issues, depression included, so i find solace in reading other people's writing about mental health as well. and you did so wonderfully. thank you very much for sharing!

It's easy for those who don't understand depression to label people suffering from it as 'crazy' or 'lazy' without realising the impact it has on the suffers life...It's a cruel disease hon...No one likes being constantly watched it's as draining as the condition...

Very well written. I loved the form you used. Sometimes a friend is the best medicine at a time like this. Keep on penning.

This poem could easily be called The Anthem for a Bipolar Mind, I loved it as it struck so close to home for me. Being as I have been admitted a few times for "regulation" of my condition, I can only say what an astounding write, and it speaks volumes with so few words.
