Bayou Nights

Bayou Nights

A Poem by Inyourshadow
"

To my friends on the Bayou

"

On dragons wings by dancing lights
I dream of you on Bayou nights

Upon the porch in rocking chair
with sweet gardenia's within your hair

Summer dress and lemonades
as evening sun slow sets and fades

Your childlike smile and laughing eyes
reflecting soft those Bayou skies

Tasting your lips with gumbo scent
and drinking deep these moments spent

As waters lap the shore awash
with cricket song and Spanish moss

Mosquitos buzz in frantic flight
as we to bed bid all goodnight

I absolutely love this beautiful poem about the bayous of my home. I love the use of the couplets. It rhymes and flows so sweetly and weaves together a magical summer's night on the bayou. Well done. Keep on penning.
