A poem about a tree

Within your carved heart trunk

lay so many rings unworn

honoring past loves

forgotten promises

I enjoyed this...made me think of courting couples carving their I love you's upon the trunk...and the invisible rings hid within it and all the promises it must of witnessed over the years...Thought provoking sweet :)

interesting and compact.. nice use of symbolism.

My interpretation of this one was that perhaps of a woman that went through many courtships and acquired many rings ...then I read it again and thought ok,a tree trunk and someone has again come by the tree with a ring from a lover and tossed it to the grown breaking off the engagement/marriage. No matter what , this is again a wonderful art work of words. I love your writings and how well you weave the stories of your thoughts.

This is a wonderful take on trees and their rings. Love what you did with it! Keep on penning.
