A year of loveA Poem by InyourshadowFrom carved names in tree bark to names carved in stoneWhittled time resought retraced with an old man's hand those scars that marked both his flesh and mine forever deep speaking soft your name. For how in Spring you laughed, gathering fallen blossoms to adorn your meadow scented hair, you were infectous I could not help but laugh along. When summer bloomed bringing fruit you sang soft childlike songs within the firelight from ancient stove, feeding it wood to feed me pie. Autumn found you free spirited dancing arms out stretched beckoning me to come, kicking fallen leaves in rainbowed gold. As winter bore white hair against your surgical gown I wept, retracing yesterday's with loving fingers tight intwined in yours afraid to let go. Again I trace with old mans hands your name etched deep and weep alone this stone speaks so cold your name that once held such laughter. © 2011 InyourshadowReviews
